Coldframe!

New for 2012!  The Cold Frame!

We had a bunch of old windows and 2x4s sitting around, so building a cold frame to start some seedlings seemed like a great weekend project.

Guess what?!? It was.  We started by removing all the cruddy glazing from the windows

sealing the cracks

And of course, the obligatory black paint, to absorb heat... right?

Built a frame for the windows with 2x4s

I kinda just built the frame by the seat of my pants, as usual... and this is how it ended up!  Complete with thick plastic sheeting from home depot.

Some hinges and weather stripping and we're good to go!

Since we're nerds, and happen to have a wireless weather station, my lovely lady purchased a new transmitter so we can monitor the temperature and humidity from the comfort of the kitchen.  That's how we roll.

The huge seedlings were purchased from the fine ladies at Bossy Acres

The wee little seedlings were sprouted in the cold frame.

Garden 2010 2011

Well... I can't remember what exactly we did during the 2010 and 2011 seasons... so here's bunch of pictures.

Extra planting box for peppers.
Strawberries... looking good!

Extra pots, Raspberries!

Thai chilis

Front yard flowers, totally Fibonacci

And... enough of the history... let's get current!

Garden History 2009

This am garden!  Since we started this garden back in 2009, I'll give you some background.

This is what we started with (after a few days of digging out old plants, lifting out old paving tiles, and digging up a few massive root balls).  The pictures seem to dwindle from there, but we put in a few boxes and crushed granite over a weekend, and voila!

Pepper and herbs

Strawberries and Rhubarb

Tomatos

Sad Raspberries... :-(

Snaaaaaake!   or cucumber.  These things took over the garden and I'm reluctant to plant them again.

Eggplants are tasty!
And... that was about it for 2009.  I'll throw in a 2010 and 2011 recap soon.
